Been using this forum for 20 or so days.
I was using the older version.
,,|,, (>.<) ''|''
The DOD computer won't let me use these forums at work, because of the phishing threat.
I see why now, working on recovery on my account.
It happens.
So does 2048 bit encryption.

Have a nice day.

Kamel,

1. The Forums are hosted on Forumotion.net. Neither Owen nor me have any direct access to the coding or file system of the forums. If there has been any threat from the forums it has come from Forumotion itself.

2. One of the reasons that the Forums here could be considered a phishing threat is because of where it is hosted and the domain.

3. If anything your more likely to have been keylogged by terrorists than one of us. I hardly doubt anyone on this forums is capable of hacking the forums and getting access to peoples data. Like I mentioned above, Owen and I are the only ones with Administrator accounts and only us have access to your email accounts and IP addresses unless of course you gave out your email account in the contact information.

4. Recently Hotmail (MSN) has had a huge problem with accounts being hacked. If your email account to this forum and to RuneScape is a Hotmail or MSN one then that might be the problem.

5. Maybe you were just genuinely hacked. If you haven't taken the necessary precautions to protect your RuneScape account from threats you are vulnerable and as JAGEX states, The responsibility of your account is yours and yours only.

1. This forum does not phish.

2. if you're dumb enough to go to forums and put in your RS name + actual pass, you deserve a hacking.

3. Your signature is annoying as hell.

4. If this website DID phish, they would've phished someone good. Sorry. But it's true. Dissapointed

Therefore, this must have happened at some other dodgy forum.

Gl with your recovery.

If anything your more likely to have been keylogged by terrorists than one of us.

Hide yo' claws, hide yo' phats, 'cause jihad is hackin' everybody out der.

Thank you guys.
I think I have the situation handled.
The only reason I suspected this one is the fac that the department of defense computers won't allow this website.
All is well, I thought I lost my beloved Kamel.
I got to the problem within 10 minutes, and recovered with bank intact.

Also since we are on the topic of security, is there anyway to make the sign up process not send a welcome email with your password in plain text?

If for example someones email is hacked the forums account (and any other site that uses that password) is under potential threat, unless the user had deleted it and cleared their trash like I have.

I understand this should be a minimal problem since your runescape password should not be your forum password. However, I do use a somewhat uniform bogus password for many forums and things I do not value as much as say my email accounts, then above that game accounts, and then above that my finances.

Despite my precautions there are a number of people who do not takes these steps. It is like you said the duty of the user to secure themselves, but making the process a little simpler for everyone isn't a bad thing in my opinion.

I simply feel plain text emails containing your sign up user-name and password is in poor form regardless of the importance and "threat to security" it may possess. Happy

Well. Basically, keep your E-Mail account more seperate and make the forum account's password differ from any other password you got anywhere fact being if you were forum hacked we can just simply kill your account.
