This is pretty serious so please don't post silly comments.

I've been having severe abdominal pain for 11 days and have been to 4 doctors, 3 of them giving me incorrect diagnoses. This one I went to today believes I have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and I will find out tomorrow from tests conducted today, if it may be either crohn's or ulcerative colitis. I'm only 17 and i've been having trouble dealing with the news, mostly being shocked and frightened. How do you guys relieve your stress or deal with bad news?

Well when I'm sad or stressed, there are a few things that help

1. I find hanging out with family or friends helps to cheer me up. Don't make it something like a pity party or anything, try to focus on something other than the thing that's bothering you.

2. When i don't feel good, having the foods that I really like for dinner and stuff cheer me up a bit. When I have a big project or something, I usually get my mom to order take out from one of my favorite restaurants, and that usually helps.

3. You could try listening to music to take your mind off of it. Instead of listening to your own music library, you can try listening to pandora.com to hear something new. Because the music is all related to whatever channel you pick, it's still good, but it's nice to not know what song will come on next.

4. Going outside for a walk or run might make you feel better. I don't know how mobile you are, but I always find that it's nice to just go out and think. You can just walk around your neighborhood or a park, either way it's nice to get out and around.

I don't know if any of these will help you out, but you can try them out. If you're feeling down, you could always come onto Runescape and just talk with people in global chat to feel better. I hope these can help you out, and I hope that you start to feel better soon.

At the moment I can't seem to remember a time when I was actually stressed (I've probably surpressed them or something). Though sometimes when I'm feeling a bit off and I need to breathe, I just go find somewhere that's particularly high like a grassy hill or something, I just lie under there and think through everything I've done thus far in life. It's peaceful.
Something else would just be generally getting your word out to someone who you're really willing to talk to about everything. I find Global Chat is where I'm more honest than talking to anyone I know in real life.

Just two suggestions.

I'm sorry to hear the potentially bad news Josh Sad

I've been seeing bowel cancer related adverts on the TV a lot recently and they say that if things are diagnosed early on, they can be treated faster and the outcome isn't as bad so if you were to end up with something life threatening, which I hope you don't, you could hopefully control it enough so it's not a massive problem and you can still live your life normally. Happy

When I feel stressed and/or I am upset I will do something that I love doing. One of my favourite hobbies is cycling so I'd jump on my bike and go for a 12 mile ride down country lanes going at a nice pace where I can just relax and take in the scenery which normally helps to stop me from feeling stressed.

I also agree with Nick, spending time with the "e-family" that is Global Chat has always helped to cheer me up and put a smile on my face. Whether we are sitting in the chat having a laugh or playing a few minigames. You can always count on Global for support and care in hard times. Happy

I don't know if you play an instrument or not, but playing guitar always help me deal with stress. Every time I get stressed out I try and teach myself a new song on guitar. I'm sure it's the same with other instruments too.

You've been to 4 doctors.
You know you live in Canada, right? Canadian doctors don't know a thing, it's probably nothing.

This is the way I see it:
If you do happen to be diagnosed with something terrible (We all hope that you won't, of course), you can't just go around being stressed about it. You need to enjoy your life, because if you spend all your time being stressed out, you just won't be enjoying anything.

Idk, I hesitated to post anything because it seems to be a sensitive subject I guess.
