Hello everyone,
Seeing as a lot of people seem to be discussing this update and that I always like our global chat rants, I've decided to make a thread where we can discuss the Squeal of Fortune in general and its recent update.
Personally, I had nothing wrong with the Squeal of Fortune when it was first released. A little bonus for both free players and members where they had the chance to get some items or an exp lamp. Now seeing as random events are a lot less common now, it seems reasonable to give people the chance to grab a bit of extra exp everyday.
With yesterday's updates, I have very mixed opinions. On one hand, I think the ability to grab extra spin tokens from taking part in Distractions and Diversions that are losing popularity is good and the same for being able to obtain them from training skills as a rare drop.
However, I must say that I am against being able to buy spins for real life money. I've always stuck by Jagex's side on RWT and trying to give all members equal benefits but this is just wrong if you ask me. Now, I know a lot of the videos on YouTube in the last day have been showing people getting 300k rc exp from 160 spins which I suppose you could say makes the update stupid as it undermines training normally but the majority of these people already had 85 or 90+ in the skill they were using the lamps on. For most people with 60 or 70 stats, buying spins is probably worse off and considering the average levels players have, I'd say for about 80% of players, buying spins isn't worth it.
I'd love to say that Jagex will come to their senses and remove the ability to buy extra spins but I don't think they will. Go back to the Refer a Friend programme, after all the petitions and everything, the argument eventually died off and it's still here but just not used as much. I'd say something similar will happen to buying spins and that eventually you'll be left with like 0.5% of the players buying spins.
