Hello everyone,

Today I would like some feedback on "Forum Points". For those of you who do not know what "Forum Points" are or what they do here is a brief summary:

Forum Points are basically the post count from previous forums and the post count from this forum mixed together. They were introduced for nostalgia purposes for those who wanted to keep growing there post count however I didn't end up copying over everyones post counts from the previous forum because I sort of forgot and it took a lot of hassle to do so. Forum Points serve no purpose at all on these forums other than to show a number and from my understanding, no one really pays any attention to them.

The reason I have created this poll is simple, I want to work out whether people would be interested in completely resetting the "Forum Points" with the possibility of using the feature for a complete different purpose.

If everyone could vote on the poll that would be awesome and people are welcome to ask questions and give comments and suggestions below.

You wouldn't need to delete it? You can hide it, and make a new field? Forum points may be useful in the future.

"Forum Points" is a feature that is based upon a points system. Points can be awarded for creating forum topics and posting in forum topics but points can also be awarded to any member for any reason as an add-on. There can only be one field that works off the points system and as at the start we decided for it to reflect post count I set all the defaults to +1. However the system could now be used for something more interactive and community orientated rather than just as a post count placeholder.

Personally, i'm not bothered either way. I don't know how useful a different kind of points system would be.

It's a points reset, not a post count reset, right?

Now that this forum has been around for so long we don't really need the counts from the old one anymore, everyone has settled in as to how much they post and if people are in it for the post count that can be seen from this forum's post count.

It would be nice to see some reasoning as to why people are voting no.

Nobody new to the forums would know/care what those things were anyway. I wouldn't mind if they were removed completely, or given a different use. If people want some sort of recognition of having been members of the old forums then that could be some other icon... right?

I like to look at them and think, man. I could be at that many posts right now if the forums didn't change over 3 times.

But so many of those are random 1 word posts, most of which were on Word Association.

Word Association posts shouldn't count towards post count.

Yeah, some topics are overpowered for post gain. I really wouldn't mind what happens to points.

My posts are quality posts.

I haven't fully decided yet but I was thinking of some other type of forum points that represent either contribution to the forum and where if you win a drawing competition etc you can gain like +200 or something as well as gaining them for posts as well.

The system could even be done on a monthly basis where theres a competition to see who can gain the most points in a month and then they get reset.

I'm open to ideas of what to use the system for I just think it would be nice if we tried to use the feature for something a little more interactive.

We also have a reputation system on the forums as well which could be turned on and used so you could give people + or - reputation for making good or bad posts and threads on the forums but for some reason I think that system would be abused

I'm just trying to think of ways to help make the forums more active and more fun to be on and encourage people to keep checking back.

*Cough* Hence the "Veteran" rank which can be seen at the bottom of the forums homepage. I'm looking into having medals/awards that can be given out to players for that sort of thing and for winning competitions and stuff.

Pretty sure I gave him warnings once, then I realised I had banned him.

Blamed it on Fidde.

Also, I made him my 'enemy' on the friends list on the forums, turns out that makes you ignore them completely.

And I haven't had any new posts in Word Association since that day.
