I just checked the forums and Mod Jon H now checks every Monday for accounts that have not been logged in for 90 days. The first time there was 1200 out of 6000 pmods who lost their crown for not logging in.

90 days seems really short, but you can send them a message to let them know you will be inactive for a while, then it should be fine.
And I don't think there's a way to get it back.

I'm sure they said at one point they weren't going to continue taking modship for being inactive -.- used to be 6 months before that.

I just facepalmed at the fact he's like 'blah blah blah drop out from crappy connection, herp derp, that's java for you.'

And also that he assumed that as soon as voice chat is implemented, it means the same security issues as Skype once had will immediately come to RS.
